ABOUT ME
My name is Nelson Brito, I am a graphic designer. In 1999, I was born in Havana, Cuba. I grew up in a calm area of Vedado. As I matured, I grew more and more creative, and even developed a love for the fine arts. The path to fulfilling my goals was difficult and full of many challenges. With the help and support from my parents, I achieved my bachelors in graphic design at the New World School of the Arts.
Throughout my evolution as an artist, my work has always been categorized as illustrative and narrative. One of my goals as an artist has been to develop art pieces that award the curious viewer. I generally make subject-centered compositions, usually with non-verbal stories. When the pieces are analyzed, we can perceive a large amount of attention to detail, whether it is for a realistic or stylized project. However, I am currently aiming to move into a more surrealistic and abstract style. Given the current development for original and creative work in modern art, I feel the need to dive deep into conceptual art, rather than just commercial.
As of right now, the piece that has been the most important to me, both on the technical and personal level, is my BFA project Oasis. In this project I revisited past struggles and interpreted them, not as sour moments, but as positive lessons that made me who I am today. This piece is also a huge milestone for me as an artist because it is the first long format 3D animation I have designed. While working on Oasis, I put to practice all my knowledge on digital rendering and cinematography. Throughout the development, I became familiar with more advanced features, like water and cloth physics, texture painting, and photo scanning. In the end, this piece represents my growth as an artist despite every obstacle I have had to overcome. Oasis provides a visual and personal storytelling experience while demonstrating my current skill set, determination, and love for the craft I have had since I was a young boy.
My goal as an artist has been, and will always be, to explore and stretch my creative limits. I have always aimed to make the upcoming piece more unique and ambitious than the one before. Looking back, my technical ability and way of working was a direct product of cemented ideals I established when I just started making art. I am a strong believer that nobody is born an artist, but with consistent work, passion, and dedication they may unveil the artist that already resides within them.
